Gastroenterology

Dr. Kalin Sapundzhiev is a Consultant Gastroenterologist based in Sofia, with over 10 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive system. His professional interests focus on diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, as well as gastrointestinal ultrasonography.

Dr. Sapundzhiev provides specialist consultations, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment for disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, biliary system, and pancreas. He does not examine or treat pediatric patients.

Education

In 2015, he graduated from the Medical University of Sofia. In 2017, he began his specialization in gastroenterology at the Gastroenterology Clinic of the Military Medical Academy (MMA) in Sofia, where he obtained his specialty qualification in 2021.

Since the same year, he has been working as a specialist gastroenterologist at the Gastroenterology Clinic of the Military Medical Academy. In 2023, he was enrolled as a PhD candidate at the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery and Transplantology at the Military Medical Academy.

Qualifications

Member of the Bulgarian Medical Association.
Participant in numerous national and international congresses, trainings, and scientific forums in gastroenterology.
Level III Certificate in gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Level III Certificate in gastrointestinal ultrasonography.

Professional Experience

From 2012 to 2013, he worked as a caregiver at UMHATSM “N. I. Pirogov” in Sofia. Since 2017, he has been part of the team at the Military Medical Academy.

Over the years, he has also practiced at Diagnostic and Consultative Center (DCC) Transhelex – Sofia. He currently sees patients at Medical Center Spectromed – MMA and Medical Center Hera.
