Urology

Urology is a complex medical specialty with a surgical focus that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prophylaxis of the urinary system in women and men (kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra) and the male reproductive system (prostate, testes, penis). Unlike other clinical disciplines, urologists perform specialized diagnostic and therapeutic activities that apply to all stages of the human life; thus, urology is closely related to many specialties. Urologists often collaborate with the practitioners of specialties such as pediatrics, internal medicine, gynecology, surgery, geriatrics, and oncology and treat a number of clinical problems of an interdisciplinary nature.
